This February we attended a seminar about consumer rights and e-commerce law at the law office Setterwalls. This is only applicable between B2C, with the purpose to protect the consumer and make trade easier with unanimous regulations in EU. For the new EU consumer rights from June 13 2014, the feeling last year was “We will make some changes and see if it is enough” to “Do it right, otherwise you are heavily fined”.

In the third and final part, we look at how load testing can be used as a part of your Quality of Service (QoS) testing. Even if the procedure is mostly the same as a stress test, the purpose is different. And to have maximum output of the load test, this must be reflected in the setup.

In the second part of the series of articles about load testing, we will discuss how you can find bottle necks in the system, and examine how much load the system can handle without compromising of the user experience. I can be positively surprised by a bag in a store. Well, not a regular plastic bag. The ones in thick paper with a appealing print with fancy handles, or a fabric bag in nice colours. It makes the content in the bag even more attractive or better.

A study from Akamai has shown that 40 % of the users leave an e-commerce site if the page load time is more than 3 s, and 64 % of these users select another site next time the will go shopping. There is a lot to gain by securing that the site will deliver even when the pressure is high.
